Hi guys, how you can see, I'm a newbie.

Recently a friend of mine wants to buy mi X2 5600+ in $80 :o Because he don't know NOTHING about computers.

Look my system:

X2 5600+
MSI K9N2GM-FD AM2+
4GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz
His Radeon x1950pro IceQ Turbo

It's basic

In one month maybe upgrade the VGA for a HD 4870, but know I need to buy the best CPU for the prize. I don't know if should wait for new phenoms or what?

I have in my pocket $150 and I need a AM2+ CPU much powerfull than my X2 5600+.

What do you recommend me?

Thanks for the Help! and sorry by my english, I'm from Costa Rica :D

if you can add the 80 to the 150 you can buy the phenom 2 940, it overclocks to at least 3.5ghzand your board is am2+ it should support it, you might have to flash the bios though

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz

This should be compatible with your board.

I am not sure about availability though, you either have to find an online retailer that ship to your area or you might get hosed if you go toa store, which would change your choices.

The x3 unless you overclock it, isnt going to be any faster than your current 2.8/2.9ghz cpu. It is a good overclocker though but I dont think its a wise investment.

The PhII 720 would be a nice upgrade - don't know how much it may cost in Costa Rica.

And if you rip-off your friend he may not be your friend any longer :)

Hi, thanks to all for the answers.

My only option is Amazon, because here in CR in the Stores, for example Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz cost around $300 :o

And I cant buy in Newegg

Looking the Phenom II X3 720 I think is a good option.

Really im going to feel a diference between X2 5600+ and this phenom?

Thanks!!

my vote would be yes, if you pair the x3 with a 4870 there will be a vast difference
