I want to know the minimum power supply requirement for my XFX 9600GT Graphics Card (PV-T96G-YMFF)

The confusion created because in System Requirements page in its website it says 600W Minimum Power Supply for 9600 GT cards, but when I click on PV-T96G-YDF4 Model (which is also a 9600 GT card)on the same page, a small box pops up in which Minimum Power Supply Requirement is 400 for that card.

My Power Supply Unit model is Gigabyte Superb 550 (GE-P450N-C2), which is 450W PSU with peak wattage of 550W. Is it sufficient for my card PV-T96G-YMFF ? Or should I go for upper model - Superb 720

Anyone can help ?

Please check PSU specs for me on gigabyte website :-

A non OC'ed 9600GT uses 60w (5 amps) at full load on the 12v rails.

Based on the specs of the PSU you have, the max output on the 12v rails is 360w. That leaves a max of 300w for the other components drawing power from the 12v rail. Of course running your system at 100% capacity for a prolonged period of time will shorten the lifespan of the PSU. Let's say you have 260w left to use to play it safe.

260w on the 12v rails for the rest your system should be plenty for most systems; even if you have a Quad Core CPU. List all your components to be safe.

My PC components are: - Intel Original DG35EC Motherboard, 2x2GB 800FSB DDR2 RAM(Kingston), 2.8GHz Core2 Duo (E7400), 300GB 10000 RPM WD VelociRaptor HDD, Samsung DVD Writer, Digital Camera with a FireWire Port

You got plenty of power on the 12v rails for your system as your CPU doesn't draw that much power (max 60w quick guess, my E6600 draws 52w @ 2.4GHz). Max power draw of your HDD is probably about 25w - 30w based on some power charts I saw a few years ago. The DVD burner will only use about 16w when burning.

Therefore assuming every single component that draws power from the 12v rails are operating at 100% (highly unlikely) the max power draw 166w. Toss in two 120mm case fans at full RPM for another 12w and you got 178w max power draw on the 12v rails.
