Baby steps to HD and blue ray

Hi I have a quality HD camcorder. I know my present desktop cant handle burning HD videos. What are adaquate tech. specs. for my new system to have. Prossesor, video card, hard drive and RAM. thanks

Budget? What model camcorder? Editing software? What parts from your current PC can you recycle? Do you have a DVD burner ?

For $510 you may purchase an AMD 780g, a Phenom 9600, 4 GB of RAMs, 2 80Gb hard drives (1st for OS/Apps - 2nd for capture), 1 1Tb hard drive (output/storage) and download a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Premium .....

If your output from the camcorder is recognized by your editing software in its native format you will not have to recode the audio and video streams - if it needs recoding or compression the Phenom with Vegas software will throw 4 cores and MainConcept encoders to the task.
