Hey guys, Hears a pretty newby question, but i just wanna make sure about it before i go buying anything heh.

I Fried my motherboard the other day and now i have to get a new one. But since i have an AMD Phenom 9850 Processor and a XFX 9800GTX graphics card, its hard to find a motherboard that works. (Since their all ATi now)

So i have looked around abit and ended up finding a "DFI LanParty DK 790FXB-M2RSH" motherboard..

And i just wanna know will this motherboard work with my current setup?

Since its one of those Crossfire boards, will it work with my nVidia Card? (I know it wont work in SLI, I Only want 1 Card).

And it should work with my processor right? ..

hah their pretty dumb questions but i just wanna make sure they are all going to work together before i go and grab one :pt1cable:

Thanks for the help dudes!!! :bounce:

not a dumb question, i have a Nvidia chipset EVGA mb with SLI built in yet use a Ati 4870 1Gb single card and it works just fine. I use a X2 6000 now for the last 2 years and about to move to a phenom 2 955 at 3.2ghz next week and will go with the board you mentioned for my new build. Youll be fine with your 9800 as long as you dont want to do SLI. Ive always used a single card and game at 1920 x 1200 all high settings and have done fine. A general rule is go with the best single card you can afford.

------------------------------ Phen 2 955 @ 4 GHZ MSI 790FX AM3 Gskill 8Gb DDR3 1333 ATI 5870 1 Gb 2 x Velociraptors 600Gb Gateway 24" 1920 x 1200 DVI 32 GB Iphone 3GS and Blu Ray...life is good!

You will be able to run any single nVidia card, no problem.

You will be able to run 2 separate nVidia cards to support more monitors, should you wish.

You will not be able to SLI a pair of nVidia cards to a single output.

------------------------------ Being requested to remove my siggy implying some people here would receive greater personal benefit from a local Prostitute than from a new GPU in no way, shape, or form changes the aforementioned opinion.

What about cooling considerations? thefear's obviously building a LAN box, so does he need an extra fans or something?

I suggest u go to www.dfi.com and check out the boards. You mentioned crossfire which is ATI whereas SLI is nvidia. So if u want to combine two graphics cards of the same model using nvidia u need a board that will support SLI . SLI is great for gamers as is crossfire... amd vs intel basically.
