If you were to have a RAID 0 setup with 4 drives and an external drive for backups, and one drive in the array happens to fail, is there any way you can simply buy a new drive, swap it with the dead one, then copy the old drive's data from your backup external onto the new one, then start your computer like normal?

I know each drive's data is scrambled, because it's cut into pieces. Is there a way to save that scrambled data of each drive onto the external?

If the backup is an image then yes. If it's just data files copied over then no it won't work.
A raid 5 can recover from a bad disk though.
