Is it possible to replace my EIDE dvd drive with a SATA one when my hard drive is EIDE?

Not unless you've got a SATA controller in your system. They have completely different controllers and connectors. You might be able to get a SATA-IDE adapter, but I'm always a bit worried about data corruption or incompatibility with those.

Sure, as long as your motherboard accepts SATA drives (i.e. have SATA ports).

My HTPC has a mix of 2 SATA and 2 EIDE hard drives. The DVD burner is EIDE since I want to reserve the 4 SATA ports for HDDs.
