I can't decide on two options: pls help

1. Amd 7750 BE + 770/780 chipset + 3870 + 2x2gb 800mhz cl5
2. Phenon II 710 + 790gx chipset |+ 4830 + 2.2gb 1066mhz cl5

Both have 2x samsung 500 gb 7200 rpm 16mb buffer in raid 0.

I use this computer for medium gaming, hard downloading ( and therefore multitasking ) and hd movies on a 32" lcd screen.

The second configuration in 33% more expensive. Do i get 33% more performance? Or is it better just to upgrade sooner from the first one?

My current config is 4000+, 2600Xt and 2gb 800 cl5 ram, so i think both will be a great upgrade.

Please let me know what do you think.

PS: I would like to try overclocking just for the fun of it ( but the 720 BE is more expensive ).

Get the 2nd one and dont look back. Both the cpu and gpu are better. The 4 series cards do better playback, its a stronger card, and gaming if done will be much better. The cpus, the 710 wins out

Actually the 4830 is slower than the 3870 in non-AA, but I choose it because it's a newer chipset and completes the dragon.

The non AA scenario becomes very important. Youll want the AA. The 4830 just is much more powerful. The top cards mostly play all games fairly well, many a time, the ONLY difference is how much AA can be used, and people pay for that option
