Hi all,
I am having troubles overclocking my xfx 5770 past 960/1430mhz, I am running msi afterburner to OC it and i have gone into the config file and changed unofficial overclocking from 0 to 1 I can put the voltage where I like, but the core clock will always revert back to 960 mhz? and the memory clock back to 1430mhz? Anyone have any ideas?

More about : overclocking 5770

Don't you think that is already quite a big of an overclock? Why don't you get another for crossfire? then you will see major improvements.

double check that beside the profile numbers it's unlocked, and also in the ATI Catalyst Control Center, uncheck the ATI Overdrive.

Those are surprising numbers tho, since my 5850 at stock was 725/1000 but I guess it's because of hardware differences.

Hmm well if you've done that and you said you switched the unofficial overclocking in the config file from 0 to 1, I really can't say what else might be the problem. I have to assume you "unlocked" overclocking in CCC (the lock icon, not the check box)... so yea, sorry man I have no other ideas.

Are you sure your clocks are stable? I mean memory at 1430? Those chips aren't rated for anything above 1250mhz.

You did try running something like futuremark in between right?

I have my 5770 clocked at 930 and 1350, it seems to run pretty stable at those settings, especially playing BFB2 i run right around 60 fps on average for that game. The only thing I do though when i do play the game, and I know its not the best way to go about doing it, is that I run My fan speed at 100% ONLY WHEN PLAYING THOUGH! other than that its at 35%. I do have a couple extra fans in there to keep things cool. I run stable around 78C, and have had no problems at all. Give it a shot and see how it works, reply back if you'd like.

ok guys, you don't seem to be getting the question here, and that is, how can I push my gpu core clock past 960mhz
I would just use overdrive if I wanted to stay within there parameters, and buddy if your card is running @ 78 degrees while set to 930/1350 something is wrong. I am running 960/1440 with fan set to 80% and my heat is topping out at 68 degrees, completely stable? So I guess what ever fans you have just aren't cutting it....
So now can anybody please tell me how to get past the 960 wall?

Yeah totally stable, and hardcore gaming for many hours no problems, Also if you read up in the forums 1000/1500 is completely achievable once you unlock the voltage.. just not for me..

I really don't know how you could get past 960. My His 5770 has been running at 960 on the gpu clock and 1445 on the memory clock at 60% fan and the highest temp I hit so far was 65c.It always feels like this card could be pushed harder.
