what?
Core i7 is on 1366 socket, dual and quad cores on 775 socket. Core i7 is new technology and cheapest build (CPU, mobo, 6 GB tri channel RAM) is about 650 at least. Very decent build with 775 sockets is less expensive and you can get it for 350.

What are you going to do on your PC? …gaming, applications, light/heavy multitasking, programming, photo/video encoding-editing?

Try to by more specific and do not forget to mention your budget…

Prob i7 because of the FSB Architecture, The C2D' cannot fully communicate with eachother properly, which allows the i7 to creep up on it performance wise. Just look for Benchies. PS i7 will be cheaper.

I would stay away from dual cpu boards. I would aslo stay away from the EE i7.

Even though most people that use machines for your purposes dont overclock I really dont see the reason behind it. I'm not talking about max OC's or anything that high. Get the i7 920 and overclock to the EE edition speed or how ever high it goes on stock volts and stays stable.
