Three 3870's ?

cause if u look at the price.. i could get 3 of thoes for the price of 1 4870.. or something like that.. so lets say i managed to even overclock the 3870's.. would it be any good?

I think you're overestimating the cost of the HD 4870. Here's one, also from Newegg, for $200.

Also, The HD 3xxx series don't do well with AA, and even without I think the HD 4870 is as powerful as the HD 3870 x2, and scaling goes down for each card added.

If you have $220 to spend, HD 4870 or GTX 260 is the way to go.

yeah but thats american money.. im talking 100$ canadian.. the 4870 is around 330$ here.. so if i got 3 3870's... would it out preform the 4870 or more.? im guessing they should?

well, in crossfire, the 3870 crossfire is running 47.53 fps at 1280 x 1024 on high.. which doesnt seem too bad? 3 would be even more..

A 3 Cross fire would be fun to see. But i honestly think it wont work. Or have decent results.

Yes, that is what we are saying. Go look for benchmarks for 3 and 4 way crossfire, you'll see a recouring theme, they dont do much better, if better at all, then 2 way crossfire.

Most games just dont take advantage of the 3way crossfire tech with limiting drivers, specially when the gaming studios have people like Nvidia lining their pockets and helping the studios with deveopment problems and performance gains.

3 way CF would be heavily consuming power... better go with two HD3870X2.....
