I have been working on a new system build for a few weeks now:
Core I7 920
Asus P6T
Corsair XMP 6gb Triple Channel 1600mhz Kit
Corsair 650W HX Power Supply
When I put all 3 sticks in the mobo, slots A1,B1,C1 and set it to XMP profile in the AI Tweaker it usually boots just fine. However, intermittently it won't boot and I have to:
1. Reset the CMOS
2. Put 1 stick in
3. Boot into the BIOS then change back to XMP
4. Put all 3 sticks back in
Then it seems to work okay again. Setting the AI Tweaker to XMP automatically changes the voltage to 1.65v on the memory. Would increasing the Voltage create a "stronger" channel and more consistent booting?
Also note that my CPU has been running hot, 55-65c idle according to CoreTemp on all 4 cores. Under load it jumps to 75-80c. Would the heat of the CPU affect how the board boots?
My next step is to reseat the cooler (Zalman 9700) to see if the temps come down.
