Hi guys,

I recentely purchased a pc ( specs below ) with 2x9800gt( 1 gig ) but when i turn on sli i get random lock ups where the mouse is even frozen and ctrl alt del does nothing. I have used speedfan to check temps and everything is fine there. Ram voltages are correct and stable. When i turn off sli my pc runs fine, but i would like to fix this issue so i can use both cards.

CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400
GPU: 9800gt ( 1 gig ) x2 in sli
PSU: Ezcool 1200 watt
Mobo: MSI P7N sli platinum
CPU Cooler: Gigabyte G-Power Pro
Case: Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570
Moniter: Acer P223W 22" widescreen
HDD: 250 gig
Ram: 2x2gigs Trancend aXe DDR2 1066
OS: Windows XP Home 32-bit on Partition 1, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on Partition 2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience EZcool PSU's, regardless of wattage, are not so good at supplying enough amps.

I have been running a GTX 260 on it for a while and it was fine ill look into it but i dont think the psu is the culprit could my second card be faulty?

i mean using one card at a time not putting in 2 cards and disabling sli.

Have you tried running them one at a time?

i would if i could but ive got some of these warranty stickers on the side of the case, so i dont want to lose my chance of getting my cash back.

As for the PSU you could be right about it but ive still got some 12v things not plugged into anything doesnt that mean the 2 i am using would have more amps. If im wrong sorry im no expert.

I recently had an issue where an EZcool 700w PSU would not run a pair of 8800GT's in SLI on a 680i mobo but when it was replaced with an OCZ 700w SLI was able to be enabled and the rig has been running without a single hiccup ever since.

The thing is that my pc does not freeze where it is under heavy load or anything it could be on the desktop, in warcraft 3, in Dead space. Not sure if that means anything, i have also tried a few different drivers but none work.

Sorry for the double post but i left this out,

The psu has four maybe five 12v rails i dont see how using 2 or 3 could put huge strain on it ;/

And i cant see the amps per rail from outside the case which is really getting on my nerve because i cant find it on google either

Have you tried running the sli indicators to whether they are or have been fully expanded or not when issue's start occurring?

Sorry, I'm a bit drunk tonight, last day of holidays you understand. *hic*

SLI indicators enabled via Nv control panel :- http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/1153/sliindicatorih5.th.jpg

Then when a game is played that uses SLI you should see :- http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4027/cysisultra2us1.th.jpg

The further out to the edges the bars go the more both cards are being used.

HTH
