Pieced together a new pc over the last 3 months and now I need a low cost decent vidoe card

specs

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor Model ADO5000DOBOX - Retail

LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black IDE Model GH22LP20 - OEM

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250310AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

G.SKILL HK 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-4GBHK - Retail

Which of the following 4 cards would serve me best @ 1280x1024 (probably 1024x768 more often, I'm on a hand me down 17" for now till I find a good deal on a 22" )

if you have to choose from these, then go for Radeon HD 4830 512MB.

I would probably go for the 4830. However, when you get that 22" (most run at 1680x1050), you might have to get something better at the same time. If you can stretch your budget a bit, a 4850 would probably be much better.

Thanks for the quick input

Would the 4830 suffice on a 20" as the 2 yr old in the house seems to run the finances at this point lol

Take a look at the 9800GT. In the price range w/rebate.

The 4830 with some simple overclocking via CCC is the same as the 4850 performance wise. Get it and be happy.

Oops seems that a 20" will run the same rez.
I may just hold off on any purchase right now till money flows a little easier

Seems that a 4830 would fit the bill and I could always try to overclock it later
thanks for the input
