Antivirus wont install

Ever since I installed AVG, no AV will install. I had problems with uninstallation, so I tried to remove it manually, but failed. Now security center still says AVG is installed, even though all but one driver was removed, and no processes from AVG are running. I am trying an old favorite: Avast! But it won't install, no AV will, it usually restarts the PC during installation!

Boot into safe mode with networking. Use revo uninstaller to remove any traces of AVG still there. Then run through the malware guide in my signature.
