Hi there!
I use a GA-p35-DS4 which has support for two graphics cards running PCI bus x16, or so it states.
But when i plugged in a second HD 3870 card, and checking GPU-Z, it says the card is only running in x4.
Why is this? Can i change it to x16? Or what is the deal?

Kind regards in advance!

Limitation in the P35 chipset. 16/4 is the best you can get, which is worthless. Return the second card.

yep P35 is limited to 16/4. return the second card, or consider upgrading to a P45. at least that allows 8/8 in crossfire.

haha but then why, oh why do they say "Unbelievable power of 2 pci-e slots x16" :D damn commercialists

to be honest, i'm surprised they didnt make it 8/8 for the p965 and p35 chipsets, but what can u do....

However, for a low end graphics card for something like physics, maybe the 4x connection is enough

Oh, and they did give u 2 16x slots... so they technically weren't lying... just "enhacing the truth"

its two x16 slots physically... but when both of them are used electrically they turn into x16/x4

damn do I feel like an idiot, no wonder why my cf setup is yielding such bad results I only just noticed this now. oh well was due for a mobo upgrade, So to get 2x16 in cf do I have to go to an x48 or x58 chipset?
