im desperately trying to get my high performance memory working in dual channel, ive tried all the different timings and voltages under the bios, but nothing has worked

working setup:

slot A1 - Crucial Ballistix, 800MHz, 2.2v
slot A2 - Crucial Ballistix, 800MHz, 2.2v
slot B1 - Original Evesham Memory, 667MHz
slot B2 - Original Evesham Memory, 667MHz
Bios - Auto frequency, 1.8v

non-working dual channel setup:

slot A1 - Crucial Ballistix, 800MHz, 2.2v
slot B1 - Crucial Ballistix, 800MHz, 2.2v
Bios - Any frequency/volts

related information
motherboard - MSI P965 Neo2 http://uk.msi.com/index.php?func=p [...] =&cat3_no=
Current CPU Clock 2.4GHz (266x9)

any help is appreciated

Does it work if you manually set it to 667 MHz? The non-working setup probably runs at 800 MHz and 1.8V which is incorrect for all modules.

You really shouldn't combine RAM like that. Sure it'll work but it's not good for the RAM. But get 4 stick of Ballistix Tracer RAM and be happy cause it looks cooler than your current RAM.

This is not a weird problem. Running 4 modules that require 2.2V certainly can be challenging; running two sets that have such different characteristics is nearly impossible, no matter the motherboard. Why not sell them and buy 2 kits of G.Skill 800 MHz PI Black or equivalent memory modules that require 1.8V?

no you dont understand, im trying to run the two crucial ballistix dimms dual channel, but no matter what i try they wont run. the only way i can get them to run is by putting them alongside the older ram

Which means that they are incompatible with your motherboard and are not on the QVL. I checked at Crucial.com and they don't list that MSI motherboard at all. Your only solution is to buy compatible RAM.

i check with the system scanner before buying, and i also checked with crucial via their live support, both said it should work fine, but couldnt help any more than to say try different voltages/timings
