I know they are the same chip, but also the same exact price. What one would you recommend and why?

Lets talk about temperatures, overclocking ability, charts, what exactly is different, voltage.

Considering it is binned higher, it will have a better overclocking potential. It should use a lower voltage and less power (and therefore create less heat) at stock settings, and be able to oc higher. There is always some element of luck of course, but the chances are better with the X.

Sounds good to me, but I cannot find if my motherboard supports the xeon anywhere. There should be no reason why it doesnt with the latest bios updates I have the P5e3 deluxe can anyone confirm it supporting the X3770.

I bought the X3370 over the Q9650 simply because of the chance to have a higher binned chip, ala better Ocing. Im sitting at 3.8ghz with the stock voltage. It idles around 35c, never tops 48c under gaming (two EverQuest 2 clients running, 2boxing) in a mildly hot room.

The best thing about the chip is the warranty. Newegg's warranty for the Xeon X3370 is the "standard warranty" meaning 30 day return for refund, 1 year return for replacement. The Q9650 comes with Newegg's "Processor (CPU) return policy which is 7 day return for refund, 30 day return for replacement...a big difference. The difference in price between the two is about $12.00, and the Q9650 ships for free, the Xeon has $7.00 shipping, so a difference of about $20.00.....for me, the warranty is worth the additional $20.00.
