i heard there are problems with some mobos and s-ata cdrom

DOES THIS MOBO BOOT WITH S-ATA CD-ROM? (windows XP instalation)

"MSI Mainboard S-775 P43 ATX PCI-E Audio GbLAN SATA-II DDR2 Retail" (P43 NEO-F)

or do i need additional drivers? or bios update?

i know that they would work fine with xp and vista.
but i was unsure if it will work in dos.
like windows installation or drive image backup!

Since DOS is INSIDE Windows it will.

why do people report that they cant boot with a sata cdrom or that it is not recognised by the pc when booting???

I've never heard that. As far as driver availablility SATA is just as good. There should be no problem with you using a SATA drive.
