hi there, i'm building new pc for gaming extreme.. can anyone sugest better idea?
here's my spec :
1. cpu= AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition

2. motherboard = biostar TA790GX A2 or gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H better?

3. memory = (2 x 2gb) Kingston 2Gb PC 6400 atau 4GB Kit (2x 2GB) DDR2 800 PC2-6400, Xtreem Dark? or any better idea?

4. video card = HIS 4850 IceQ-4 512MB DDR3 256bit ? or something better? budget around $200.. or using crossfire vga?

5. hardisk = maxtor 320GB, 7200RPM, SATA II, 8MB Cache

6. psu = any idea? budget under $100

i'm new in overcloacking, so i'm want to learn with my new pc..
thank's

What is your total budget? An Intel-based system will outperform AMD.

But...

Of those two mobos, the Gigabyte is better.
A Phenom supports DDR2-1066 on those boards, but DDR2-800 will work.
WD or Seagate would likely be better choices for the hard drive.
The PSU isn't the place to skimp, but there are some good ones available under $100, such as Antec and OCZ, possibly Corsair with a deal.
What resolution does your monitor support, and what games do you want to play?

biostar -8
gigabyte +10

Seagates and maxtors are identical these days . Seagate have better warranties . A drive with a bigger cache is a better option . The 7200.11 500gig comes with 32 mb

The HIS is the best 4850 because of the cooling IMO . I have the Palit with the double height cooler and thats good too . Avoid the single slot reference design unless you need a toaster too.

Antec , corsair and seasonic are all good . Look for active pcf . 500 -550 watt should be good .

C2D's are better gaming cpu's. Check the charts on this website

CPU choice depends on if you OC or not. Intel is always the better value option if you OC. Take a look at the TOMs system builder marathon articles that are recent. From those you can see that an E5200 pentium or an E7200 Wolfdale will out perform any AMD cpu in games once they are overclocked.

OC:
pretty much all new Intels = Value

No OC:

Dual core: Intel Wolfdale E8000 series = best value

Quad core: Phenom 9850 or 9950 ~ Intel Q6600 are both similar performance and value
Intel Q9550 is high performance at a decent value

If you are wondering about GPU - most important choice for gaming - check this post for prices and comparison to find you the best choice for your build as prices have gone down for Xmas: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/258919-31-check-gamer-prices-comparison-xmas-build

The ATI 4850 blows the 8800/9800 GTS out of the water in both value and performance, but then you want a Intel CF Mobo so you can upgrade.

If you want to go NVidea Mobo - then I would either get 9800GT, 9800 GTX+ or the 260 GTX depending on what you screen res. is, the games you play and if you want to SLI.

As for the CPU - E8500 OCs well on air using a P45 or X48 mobo from what I know and can reach 4 GHz+
It costs $200

However an E5200 or an E7200 can both reach 3.4 GHz + OC, TOMs took the E7200 over 4GHz on air (check the article).
These both cost around the $100 price mark.

Value?
Hard to say as it depends on what performance you are looking for and what OC you get out of the CPU as they vary from chip to chip - always a gamble.

"Life is like a box of chocolates, my momma said, you never know what you gonna get." ... So is buying a CPU for OC purposes

What's your budget for the entire build? What resolution will you be gaming at? If you provide this information we can come up with a build that will give you the best performance for your money.

Forget about the 8800GTS. It's a previous generation card.

Without knowing the answers to the above questions, here's a build that will perform great for not much money:

The above build is excellent - a good value choice and lots of OC potential.
You might also want to look at an aftermarket cpu cooler if you want to OC, shouldn't cost you more than $50 max.

so if i want to buy e7200 combine with what motherboard ?

If you're considering the E7200, you might as well get the E7300. It's faster and the same price.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual-Core Processor - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115132 $119.99

The E7300 will work great with the GA-EP45-UD3P in my build above. I'd really stick with the E8400, though. Games really like the extra cache of the E8xxx series over the E7xxx and E5xxx series.
