Losted HDD space

I purchased adesktop with 160 GB HDD.Due to some problems I try to re-install OS.While I am trying to make partition the HDD, I found there is some loss in the HDD space(around 700mb. How can I get back the losted Hdd space? Please help me.

Can you explain what you mean by lost HDD space? What HDD do you have and why are you worried about losing 700 MB out of 160 GB?
