hi,

just wondering what the benefit of going 55nm is over going 65nm, is it really worth it or do you just use less power?

Well actually bcos it uses less power, the heat produced is less....hence a more cooler part implies more stable....

Benefit to whom?

Smaller, Cooler, Faster, those are the major reasons.

Lower power consumption; 80w vs 114w. Basically the 55m GTX+ uses over 25% less power than the 65m GTX+. Potentially better overclocks. Potentially.

Lower production costs for nVidia so that means better profits

So there is now real reason to buy this rather than an old 65nm one then?

They will be the same price roughly within a month or so. So if you can wait then it's worth getting the 55nm.

Making the purchase in the next 2 weeks so i guess ill go with the 65nm

Its only faster because of the OC, which can be aheived by a regular GTX, but then again the GTX 55nm can go higher, but its not worth it if its much more exp:)
