Hello there. I need some advice on memory upgrade for my DELL XPS M1330. Currently fitted with 2 x 512MB DDR2 667Mhz running on Vista Home Premium. Planning to upgrade to 2x 2GB DDR2.
a) I have read some articles and pointers saying that 32bit windows might not be able to recognize 4GB memory in total unless a 64bit windows. Just wondering how true is this.
b) If i am not mistaken, XPS 1330 is on the intel GM965 chipset. Which memory should i go for? a pair of CL-4 PC2- 5300 667Mhz or a pair of CL5 PC2-6400 800Mhz?
c) And if the latter applies, which is the 800Mhz one, will there be any different if i choose the kingston hyperx CL5 over the kingston value CL5 (coz both CL5 but different in price)?
d) Lastly, will this memory upgrade will contribute or slight contribution to the energy efficiency of the laptop? just wondering.

Thank you very much for every precious advice.
WIndows 32 bit generally cannot address more than 4 GB of memory.
As for what memory to get, I'd go for whatever's cheapest. If your looking towards power efficiency, go for the memory with the lowest operating voltage (1.8V is the lowest for DDR2, I'm not sure if this applies to notebook memory)
P.S. Be sure to check for any memory compatibility issues with your laptop!
I would stick with 667mhz because that is probably that fastest that ram can run on your laptop (ram is limited by the FSB of your processor). The kingston hyper will only give you more room for overclocking so the value ram should be alright.
32 vista will only address 3 gb of ram because it has to address other things like video memory etc.
