FreeDOS Root Fat Kernel

Can someone please help.comp upon start up won't load up. shows up Loading FreeDOS
Root Fat Kernels, then with flashing cursor the stops and won't load up any more no matter what i've tried. i can't even start up in safe mode. does this mean NOT GOOD???? if anyone can help. PLEASE HELP. thanks Paul M

PaulM check too see if you have a cd or a floppy disk in the machine - if not try too type - exit - and hit the enter key - dos comand aqnd reboot . ron

Unplugged evrything out of CPU (one of which was a USB mem stick that one of the kids plugged in and forgot to tell me bout.), restarted it and BAM loaded straight away. Y didn't i think of that first. thnx to all for ur advise. Hopefully will never have to ask bout it again. THNX again all.
