I'm just wondering if this is a good pc for the price of $1200.00.......I want to start getting back into gaming......and was wondering if the 2 - 1gb cards was too much for general gaming out there......I have my own acer 22" widescreen 720p monitor.......and any advice would be good......I do have a budget of $1000.00, and would like to stay in that range....what things should I change out of this list.....Thanks for your help, Mike

OMG, terrible price and component selection IMO.

1. For a $1000+ setup, go Intel. AMD cant compete at the high end ATM. (I'm not a biased Intel fan, I run AMD in my current setup.)

2. Do not get 2x video cards unless you want more performance than any single card can offer. Get a GTX 260 Core 216 or a 4870 1GB instead.

You should be able to do a Q9950 + P45 + GTX 260/216 + 8GB DDR2 + 1TB Hard Drive setup for around that same price.

Buy a branded power supply, PPC, Corsair, antec, etc...

Intel is the way to go at this price range no doubt about it

e8400 would be fine, or if you wanna go quad core, q6600 with a P45 board

Don't bother with the 9800 SLI setup, just get yourself a a top of the line card, instead of putting 2 mainstream cards together

It would be a good idea to post links to the products you plan to buy.
The most commonly used retailer for parts around here is http://www.newegg.com

EDIT:

I guess this is the power supply you were looking at:

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817709015

If that is the one, it is not SLI/Crossfire ready, There are only two 12V rails @ 20Amps
not enough for an SLI/Crossfire setup

Don't take it personally, but Proximon, Jakary, and masteryoda34 are spot on. There are many threads that address similar requests. Buy the best quality parts you can afford, and again, the folks above have steered you correctly. IMHO, you would have been really disappointed given your budget and what is available in that range.

I think you can build a fine system for well within your budget.
Consider starting with these ideas:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 $165 12/12/08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037

POWERCOLOR AX4850 512MD3-DH Radeon 4850 512MB $155-20mir+? 12/12/08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131125

The single 4850 should be all you need for a 22" 1680x1050 monitor.
If you agree, then these go together well and very cheaply:

ASUS P5Q SE PLUS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX $97-15+? 12/08/08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131347

CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 $60-$12promo-$20mir+0 12/12/08
Additional 20% off with Promo Code "EXTRA20", ends 12/15
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008

If you want Xfire capability or a 4870 card then switch to these instead:

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX x8xFire $130-15mir+? 12/12/08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299

PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W $95-35mir+0 12/12/08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005

Just a few ideas to get you going...
