Hard Drive Constantly Making Noise

I recently had an issue with scrolling in IE that I thought was attributable to my harddrive. As it turns out, it was actually a PSU issue, and I had to get the PSU replaced. Thankfully, the location I bought it at was able to replace it for me with a new one that doesn't make noise.

While I was there I picked up a Samsung DVD player/writer to replace the old white ide connected Panasonic I had sitting in my HAF 922. Happy with my new matching DVD player/writer I went home and was quick to install it.

Now my harddrive sounds like it's constantly being written to and I was wondering if having both the harddrive and the DVD player powered by the same cable could cause this to happen. If not, is there any negative effect to having the hardware installed this way?

This may sound like a dumb question, but have you tried using separate power cable? Try disconnecting the DVD drive and see if the hdd stops sounding like its being written to constantly.

having both on the same cable will cause no adverse effect

do make sure ALL cable are securely connected

a bad psu could have damaged the hdd or any other component for that matter
