Hey all. I am taking the dive this holiday season and gathering all the components needed to build my first pc. I have listed all of the components here, and would love to get some input on the build, and see if there is anything I am missing, or could get better. I don't want to spend much more than $900, so no huge price jumps. Oh, and I already have a monitor and OS. Thanks guys.

try to get a 640GB hard drive. it uses higher density platters so its faster than than a 500 gig (and not much more expensive).

the RAM u picked is just an overclocked DDR2 800 set (u can tell because its voltage is set to 2.1v instead of the standard 1.8). save yourself $20+ and get a set of ddr2 800 ram at 1.8v and then overclock it yourself if u need to.

also, consider this combo deal for $10 cheaper (E8400 + Asus P5Q Pro board):

or this one with ur Gigabyte mobo, but a slightly faster E8500 for $7 more

Thanks for the combo heads up, I much prefer the GB board, so I'm gonna pick up the E8500 with it.

Is it true about the ram, I was always told to get over 1000 ram for OCing for the faster speed, and I can OC it past the 1066.

And Newegg doesn't have any 640gb Seagates. The next size is 750gb.

Here's a few suggestions:

G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209 $49.99

or

mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146731 $49.99 - $20.00 MIR

DDR2 800 RAM will allow you to overclock the E8500 to 3.8GHz before you even have to overclock DDR2 800 RAM since it has a 9.5x multiplier (9.5 * 400 = 3.8GHz). Even if you want to go higher, both of the above RAM kits are more than capable of pretty significant overclocks since they run at the standard 1.8v.

+1 on the 640GB drives. Here's a couple very fast drives:

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008688&prodlist=celebros $68.99

or
