Hey guys, I am building my first pc and was hoping someone could advise me a bit about it, I already have a hard drive and dvd drive from an old computer which i hope to use, I will have it hooked up to my lcd tv and already have a keyboard and mouse and OS.

My budget is E400 and I hope to use the pc to mainly watch videos online but I also hope to play games such as NFS Undercover, GTA4, Fifa 09. I am a little worried about compatibility between the new mobo and the old hard drive/dvd drive. Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable than me can advise me on it

Anyways here are the bits I am considering;

1. DO NOT GET THAT PSU!!!!!!!. Get a quality PSU from Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, Antec, OCZ.

2. Do consider getting a new HDD, that HDD is quite old so it might hit the bin soon.

3. What resolution do you plan to play at?

Cheers for the advice Shadow

Im not too sure about the resolutions, I have it connected to a 42' LCD if that helps

I havent gotten into any pc gaming at all yet apart from Football Manager due to onl having onboard graphics at present! But for normal use I use a 800x600 resolution (shortsighted).

Would the dvd drive be okay to connect? Dont need anything special in that area

I think 42' is quite too big, wouldn't you? :lol:

DVD drive is fine. Also is the 42" 108p or 720p?

I use it as a tv too. Are big screens not any good for pc games?
Yeah its a 108p as far as I know. What do you think about the motherboard, are they any good?

^ I know it's a TV but don't you think 42 feet (that's what you wrote) is just too big? ;)

If it's 1080p then get the 4850. Motherboard etc are fine but I preffer an ASUS or a Gigabyte but MSI is good for your budget.
