i am looking for a power supply for the GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P because it syays it has to be a 24pin mobo connector off the psu but iv seen people runing it off of corsair 20+4 pin mobo connectors

What he said. Corsair is a good brand, along with Antec, Seasonic, and PC Power and Cooling. How powerful it needs to be will depend mostly on the +12V amperage requirements of your current system, which includes your video card. If you have no separate video card, and do not plan to add one, a small PSU is sufficient, for example an Earthwatts 380. Otherwise, let us know what you have or wish to get.

I plan to run this mobo and a 4870 with 4gb ddr3 and a cosmos or antec 300 and the mobo says 24+8 pin idk how that is possible because psu only come with 24pin or 20+4pin can you make a suggestion on a good psu for about 100$ usd or under from newegg (im on a buget build)

Motherboards have 2 power connections. Either a 20/24 pin or a 4/8 pin. If you have an 8 pin you also will have a 24 pin. Almost all PSU's come with both but I suggest the Ultra LSP650.

You're putting too much thought into it. EVERY motherboard will have 2 power connections. Yours have the 24 and 8 pin... it's pretty common. Get a newer PSU and it will have both. You need both to run so don't worry about it.

for a AMD 720 or less, a 4pin CPU is ok, if you jump to a 140+ watt CPU, you need to get a PSU with an 8pin CPU plug
