NTLDR is part of the Windows startup and doesn't have anything to do with the LG DVD rewriter. I'm not sure what you mean by "computer does not accept LG DVD rewriter". Please provide further details, along with model number of ALL components in your system, including CPU, power supply, MB, etc, and what exactly you are trying to do.

My existing DVD player not working so replacing with an internal super multi DVD rewriter (LG 22X pata). The connections are exactly the same but when starting up I get the "NTLDR is missing" error. My motherboard is an 845GMD with Intel Pentium 4, two hard drives of 40GB and 250GB, the second installed some 4 years ago and the system was built in 2002. When replacing old DVD it starts up without a problem. Does this help
Computer does not accept LG DVD rewriter. Start-up list states "NTLDR is mising".
Any ideas?
Thanks
Make sure you have the right Master/Slave jumper setting on the back of the drive, it could be the system has lost sight of your hard-drive due to a conflict.
Exactly what ixion said. First set your jumpers so that your Hard Drive becomes the master (Put it on the most right side) and your DVD Rewriter the slave (Put the jumper in the middle.)
And if those suggestions don't work, please tell us EXACTLY how the drives are connected, including what types of cables and to what each end of each cable is connected.

Power supply is LC-A300ATX with MB 845LDML Version A01 (2002). First HDD 'C' is connected to right side of MB (red) with IDE cable then to DVD device. Second HDD 'F' & 'G' is connected to left side of MB (white) with IDE cable then to CD device. As these connections work with old DVD attached what do I amend, if necessary, in BIOS set-up?
