hi

OS: Win XP Pro

I did everything i could think of so far, but havent been able to get the optical spdif on this motherboard to work yet.

first i installed the drivers that came with the motherboard. everything working fine but the sound.
tried updating the driver to the latest version: VIA_Audio_V6011560_XPVista
but no luck

then I formatted, reinstalled win (as I was planning to do later on anyway) and installed the latest driver again, but still no luck!

the main reason I chose this motherboard was because of the optical sound (since it's attached to my home theater). if it doesn't work, it'd be completely useless...

please help

Hi,

Did you change the sound properties in the control panel so it defaults to optical interface.

yep! didnt work got an RMA for it and gonna return it...now hunting for another one.
do you have any suggestion for an inexpensive reliable main board that comes with an onboard optical?
