Hello,

Currently I have a 8800GT and I am planning to upgrade it to either a 4850X2, 260GTX or 4780. However, I noticed all these cards have 2x 6 Pin slots. Do I actually have to put 2 connector's in or could I just connect one? Since my PSU only has a single 6-pin connector... if I need to connect 2 will I need a new PSU or is there a way around this?

Thank you :)

You can buy a molex adaptor which you plug into one of 4-pin power leads from the PSU.

I guessing the local Radio Shack should have the adaptor and it'll probably cost $6.

You should check the most recent best graphics cards for the money - that ought to help you out based on price range.

Also, don't buy the adapter just yet - many GPUs come with adapters. I have several laying around.

What PSU do you have currently?

The 4850x2 takes quite a bit of power, and if your PSU only has one connector, it may or may not have enough juice.

I bought a new video card a few weeks ago. I went with the nVidia GTX260+ as Toms calls it. It requires 2 6-pin plugs, which I was lucky enough to have on my P/S. I'm running a rather old Enermax Noisetake 600W unit.

Here is the link to the vid card I got:

I'm only running 1680x1050, but everything runs great. I've played Crysis and Left4Dead mainly. Crysis set to high for the most part, Left4Dead maxed out.
