Looking for some info on a new monitor... decent quality and sub $200 CAD
Im looking at 2 right now... both from the same site canadacomputers.com
I used to work for them so I'm not worried about the store... more about the products... one is the LG W2042TQ-BF seen here and the other is the Samsung T200 seen here
so here is the problem: There are a ton of reviews on the Samsung but it looks like the LG is pretty new so I havent found any good reviews on it...
Both have very good specs and are fairly comparable but I want real usage info...
So, since I know both are good brands, heres my question: I do 3d animation and a bit of video editing and want a monitor with good colors but I also need decent gaming performance...
Keep in mind that I am currently using a 20" CRT and that I have never used an LCP panel for gaming or 3d work... only text and web browsing at work...
You'll be disappointed with any LCD monitor you can buy for under 200 loonies. It's just not possible to get the same or adequate colors for graphics work.
Proximon: I'm going to have to take a few and read through that article but again: the problem is that I need a good LCD but I'm on a very tight budget right now... sub 200 or very close to 200...
As I said, canadacomputers has some decent prices and I know the guys there...
If anyone with a bit more knowledge of LDCs would be willing to look at their site and suggest a decent one to me, I would much appreciate it...
I want bigger than 19" since i am used to a 19" CRT (meaning that I am used to a tall screen and I need that hight... 19" wides = less hight, more wide...) but much bigger than 20" is getting pricey...
So if anyone can help me out a little, I would be very grateful....
Thanks again!
[EDIT] So I found another one that looks promissing but again, I can't find any reviews on it... not sure if it is because the 2 LG models are canada only or if it is because they are new but I found a 22" LG W2242P-BF on canada computers here
Try the DELL UltraSharp 2009W. From my experience with Dell's products, I can strongly recommend it. Dell goes for the best bang for your buck and it also provides quality. The Dell UltraSharp Series is the higher end of Dell's LCD monitor products. Its 239 on Dell's website. Browse around there if you like cuz with a tight budget like yours, Dell seems to be a shoppers paradise.

And from my experience I will never recommend anyone purchase a dell or ever buy a product labeled dell again. Not to mention when I wanted to purchase a Gb of DDRII 667 memory for my dell laptop dells website wanted $159.99 for a dell certified stick of ram so I went to newegg and bought a stick with the same specs for $39.99. Than there was the time I went to replace my battery, $179.99 from dell, and $109.99 from some website I found through google.
Oh brother. Then get yourself a 19" with same resolution, with a even higher "pixel density", and get yourself a pair of 3d glasses to go with it noob. LOL.
So here's my gripe: I will probably never buy an acer... Remember... I have worked in computers and computer stores for over 8 years and I have never seen an acer that I liked compared to all the others on the wall... and 2, I'm not so sure about dell: I work on a dell monitor all day... but doing text stuff... Its nice and the price isn't bad but I'm not sure it would do for games and movies
