Hi guys, first off, thanks in advance for any advice, and comments. My mom has a Compaq Presario SR1522X, with 512 MB of PC2-3200 RAM. I want to bump up the RAM on her system, and I was wondering if a GB of Dual Channel PC-3200 RAM I have from my old Alienware would work in her system. If so, could I/should I, add the 1GB of dual channel RAM to the current 512 of single channel she currently has. IIRC, this is possible, although it would limit the performance of the dual channel sticks. Is that right, or am I on drugs?

Again, thanks in advance.

I think using different kinds of RAM chips (in your case different capacities) will affect performance somewhat, as the 1GB will have to work slower to let the 512MB catch up. Though I may also be on drugs :)
