Hello,

I have the asus P5K motherboard with a XFX 9600gt at the moment and i want to upgrade it to the GTX280 or something cheaper like the 9800gtx but i dont know if my motherboard will run it.

It could run it, although you might loose a bit of performance due to the fact that it isn't a pcie 2.0 slot, but still better then the 9600 gt.

However you also have to make sure that your psu can handle it, if it couldn't then it could fry your whole system. What psu are you using right now?

Im currently using the Corsair VX550W and i thought the P5K Pro mobo has pcie 2.0

and also the GTX280 requires a NVIDIA HybridPower enabled motherboard. which i dont think i have on the P5K Pro.

the gtx280 works on non-Nvidia Mobo (most of the reviews came from Intel mobos, no hybrid in there)
