computer has no cd rom drive. need to install recovery disk. can i hoop laptop to a desktop to accomplish this? xp home security 2011 has taken over my mini laptop and i need to restore to factory.

  1. Buy a USB external drive - its the easiest way to get the recovery disk installed. You can also buy a cheaper USB to IDE cable which can hook to the existing drive from your other computer.

    If you are not particular about the recovery disk you can do a fresh install also. Read this step by step guide:
