I have a *very* strange problem, I just upgraded my Microsoft 6000 Keyboard & Mouse with a Microsoft 8000 Entertainment Keyboard & Mouse but for some reason it causes my Abit IP35 Pro to hang on either Code 50 [initializing usb] or Code 52 [memory]. I've disabled the DOS support for usb keyboard/mouse in the bios to no avail. If I switch it back to the 6000 - it works fine.

CPU: Q6600
MotherBoard: Abit IP35 Pro
Ram: 8GB Corsair
PS: 550W Themotech
GC: 8800GT
HD: 4 x 500gb Seagate 7200.11 in Raid 0+1 (onboard intel raid controller)

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Anyone have any idea what may cause this? I doubt very seriously its the keyboard/mouse but I'll give MS tech support a call tomorrow.

Could it be the KB / Mouse is req more power and thus sending me over the top on consumption? That doesnt seem likely, especially since the doc station has its own power supply.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with MS tech support today with no results. Has anyone used the 8000 with an abit ip35 pro?

Did you try plugging it into a different USB port? Does it work when you plug it in AFTER the system boots?

Yes, I've tried all of my USB ports. Yes it works after the system boots.

No one has used the Microsoft 8000 Entertainment Keyboard & Mouse with the Abit IP-35 Pro? What about with any other Mobo, any issues there?

I've never owned either of those, but I did encounter that same problem on my 680i motherboard. Clearing the CMOS seemed to fix the problem, but I have no idea if that will have any effect in your situation :??: .

thanks g3force - unfortunately I've cleared it a few times to no avail.

I've spoke with abit and the tech support rep claimed that he had no record of people having issues with the combo. Of course, I'm sure a lot of people have moved on from the abit boards now that they are dead.

I'm really running out of ideas of what the problem is, though have you tried using a USB to PS2 converter (if possible)? Besides that I can't think of anything else that would fix the problem, though it may be worthwhile if you see if this issue occurs with another system.

I just updated to v17 of the Abit IP35 PRo bios and now my USB keybaord (Logitech Ultra-x Premium) does not react anymore on the DEL key. So i cannot enter the bios. I need to plug in a PS2 keyboard and then it works..
I did not have this problem with bios v14...

Strange indeed

Aha, i found the answer. You need to clear the bios after the bios upgrade.
Just use the switch on the backpanel (switch power off first!!).

Then the keyboard start reacting again. And they fixed the SATA disks menu finally.
