I had to rebuild my HTPC, It originally had an ATI AIW 128Mb card in it. It was fine for watching TV, but I never had much luck using the recording software, especially when setting a timer. I mainly used it with an s-video cable to watch downloaded TV shows & movies.
During the rebuiold I added a Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 512MB PCIe and a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 . I have another thread posted here:
Asking about why the ATI Radeon's s-vidoe out to my TV isn't working.
So far I have not been able to install the drivers for the HVR2250. I've read a few reviews and it seems to be a common issue with their products. I am concidering RMAing the HVR2250 and picking up another capture card. I'm not a Vista fan, my machine runs Windows XP/SP3, this suits my needs quite well. This HTPC main job is to play music, secondarily it plays downloaded movies and TV shows. It's final purpose, is limited need to caputer from external sources (video camera, VCR, etc.), and a limited need to be able to schedule to record TV shows.
