Hello everyone!

I have a GIGABYTE EP45C-UD3R Motherboard and an Intel E8400 CPU. Since I knew that my motherboard supports DDR3 1600/1333 memory, I am willing to buy a new set of DDR3 1333 4GB memory instead of my old DDR2 800 4GB. Is this action will help on gaming? Or I am wasting money to do that? Also, what is the main differences between DDR2 and DDR3 on the daily usage?

Thank you very much!

It's a waste of money, there will be no noticeable difference.

The core2 do not utilize the speeds of the DDR3 fully...So like theAnimal said its a waste of money...Maybe you should save that money for your next graphics upgrade...

Thank you for the helps!
How about I change my CPU to Q9400? Is it will be better?

Only if you're using software that can make use of all 4 cores.

An overclocked E8400 would put the smack down on a Q9400 in gaming or other single or double threaded apps. Only advantage you would see is an app or game that utilizes all 4 cores.
Neither C2D, C2Q or Phenom 2 benefit from DDR3 over DDR2. However, for upgrade sake down the road you may want to get DDR3.

Thank you guys! I got that

Sadly, there really isn't much worthwhile in LGA775 that's not astronomically expensive (*cough* Core 2 Extreme...), and better then an overclocked E8400. Maybe you can nab a Q9650 and OC it later.. which wouldn't be a bad way to go.

Also, as others have said, DDR3 would be a waste. DDR2-800 really is fine, although DDR2-1066 is quite a bit nicer for overclocking :)

As stated before, there is no noticeable performance boost with DDR3 at this time.Go with what you have for now and wait till you can afford an I7,or the yet to be released I5.Although DDR2 1066 would help with overclocking.Goodluck.
