I am planning to replace the stock monitor on a Dell Dimension 4700 with the 2007FP monitor. I've been told that since my configuration does not include a video card I must add one to get the full resolution of the 2007. Based on the best information I can find, I have open PCI Express X16X1/ PCI Express X1X1/ PCI1X1 slots. Any suggestions on a video card that would allow me to make the upgrade? I am not a gamer.

I use a fanless card, the evga e6200, which was free after rebate at fry's. For more resolution settings, try screensavers, a free download. This program added up to 1920x1080 with my onboard g33 Intel video. For a separate video card, a 3650 or 8500gt will be plenty for a non gamer. Both can be had for around $50-60.

I got the monitor and found that I don't need a video card to get the 1600X1200 resolution of the Dell 2007FP. The chipset provides the required input.
