this may or may not be a stupid question but I'm a newb so here it goes.. but is it normal for an 8500 gt 512 DDR2 overclocked to outperform a hd 3650 512 ddr2?

the hd 3650 gets at least 20 frames less than the 8500. :/

the 8500 gt is overclocked to about 700 mhz... it freezes sometimes but games load way faster with it and there aren't any "hiccups" as there are with the 3650...

cpu phenom 9100e
5 gigs of memory
300 watt psu

did you happen to ugprade from an 8500 gddr2 to a 3650 gddr2? i think they're on the same ground lookin at their respective gddr type.

if its possible you could try chippin in for a card that says gddr3 which may offer almost twice (or even 3x) the performance you're getting from those gddr2 cards.

Either way you should probably go for a real upgrade. If you're on a budget go for the HD3650 GDDR3 or a 9500GT GDDR3. If you can afford it maybe go for a HD4670.

yep, I'm going to send the hd 3650 back to get the 9500 gt (DDR3).. this seems to be the best upgrade given my gateways 300 watt stock PSU and my dad won't fork out any more money for a psu, so this seems to be the only option!
