can you install an sas hard drive in a laptop in place of a sata drive maybe with an adapter.

As I know it, you can connect SATA drives into a SAS configuration, but not the other way around.

Not to mention that it is highly unlikely that you would find any sort of adapter that would work inside a laptop HDD chassis.
