So I'm in the process of selecting a new motherboard for my system, so I can upgrade to a Phenom II 920. I've heard that the 790GX chipset is the one to shoot for, but I've heard a mixed bag on the 8300 -- some say perfectly fine, some say less flattering things.
The situation I'm in is one wherein it will cost me more to get the 790GX motherboard, and I'm not convinced it's worthwhile. I've seen some benchmarks that say it performs better in gaming, but my primary concern when dealing with motherboard chipsets is stability.
In terms of power consumption and stability, does the 8300 compete?
