Hello,
I have a Seagate Barracuda LP 1 TB external hard drive. I am guessing someone dropped it because something inside it is loose. I opened it and a piece was loose. On the piece it is marked 12.000H9F; it is a long oval in shape. on the bottom, which is flat it has two little hole things. Where is this supposed to fit. When I plugged the hard drive in it says that there is too much power supply in the the USB port. What do I do.

I would remove the drive from the housing and verify that it works first. Ideally by connecting it to an available PC.

Some pictures of what your are describing would probably be helpful.
My guess is the housing/chassis is busted, irreparably. The drive "may" still be ok though.
