I HAVE A COMPAQ PRESARIO CQ60-211DX. IT HAS Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I WANT TO UPGRADE THIS TO SOMETHING BETTER SO THAT I CAN PLAY GAMES LIKE DOOM 3. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BUY. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS?

Assuming you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, you're pretty much stuck with what you already have.

Graphics? Can't upgrade. Well, technically you could but the price can't be justified considering the cost of the laptop itself

HDD? It's already 160GB so not that great a need for space.

CPU? Ain't gonna happen.

About the best kind of upgrade you can hope for is to max out the RAM.

Even then, trying to play Doom 3 on a laptop with an Intel GMA 4500M solution... well, as long as you're not too crazy about eye candy.

I WENT TO THE "CAN I RUN IT" WEB SITE IT SAID THAT MY PROBLEM WAS MY GRAPHIC CARD. IS THERE NO WAY I CAN I PUT A NVIDIA OR RADEON GRAPHIC CARD IN THIS COMPUTER?

Short answer, no. The graphics are physically built into the MB of that laptop and you can not swap it out.

Your only option for upgrading the graphics is to go with an external upgrade. But even then, considering the cost of a brand new Compaq CQ60-211DX vs the cost of the external solution, it just does not make sense.

Take a look at the following links and pay attention to the pricing quoted and you'll see why.

Yeah laptops usually cost about 2-3 times the price of a comparable desktop when you look at gaming. The cards are build on the motherboard or on proprietary daughter boards. You will need a completly new system and make sure it is addequate for your needs because you can not swap the video. I have a friend who just asked me what she should get to play a few games on a laptop. I gave her this. It is the most economical gaming laptop i have seen so far. It will last you for a few years and run most games perfectly. Doom3 will run like a champ. Most gaming latops run $1500 on the low end and several thousand on the high end.
