I have a very strange problem at windows xp home edition. The computer is runing properly the first cd,but if i take out the first cd and put another cd inside the cd-rom, the computer is freezing and i cannot do anything. The only think i can do is to press the reset button and restart the compruter.
I must add here that it does not matter if the disc i am using is CD or DVD.
It is not a problem from the cd-rom because recently i changed it.I was using a LG DVD writer and now I'm using a NEC-OPTIARC.
The funny think is that i never had this problem at the xp proffesional edition neither with the LG drive nor with the NEC-OPTIARC drive.
Both editions have been installed from original discs.

maybe the home edition doesn't have the proper drivers with it. have you tried updating your hardware drivers using manufacturers websites.

another issue I would think is some type of malware or registry dysfunction

Secondaly a big hello to all the comunity!!!
Now to our problem.I did tried an update from the manufacture's website but it did not solve the problem.
I think it is a problem from the windows settings.
