I bought a nice new Gigabyte 4850 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814125238 ) a few months back and I've been trying to update the drivers but every time I update the original drivers with the brand new ATI drivers and reboot, I'm left with a desktop that shows a low resolution at a low color depth that cannot be changed.
Should I contact Gigabyte or is this something easily solved?

you need to remove all drivers and ati software prior to rebooting and installing the new drivers, so after uninstalling the previous drivers you will get a very low resolution screen, then you install the new drivers and you will get the high resolution again.
