I am having issues with my 4870X2. I talked to ATI's tech support and they told me my mobo may not support crossfire (but they're not sure and apparently it is my job to find the answer, not theirs).
Technician also said that the 4870X2 is only one card, but is a built-in crossfire, so being crossfire compatible is necessary...
You do not need a crossfire motherboard to run the 4870x2 card. You need a crossfire motherboard if you have 2 physical cards running Crossfire on the motherboard. Crossfire is handled on the graphics card. They are wronge.
I cannot play any game in fullscreen mode (which used the 2 GPUs) but they run perfectly in windowed mode (which uses only 1 GPU). I had posted the details here a couple days ago if you have any idea : http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] dowed-mode
