The GTX 295 should be more expensive, because it's more powerful. That's pretty obvious by looking at the review you linked. If you play at 2560x1600 you should definitely get the GTX 295, IMO.
At 1920x1200 however, with 4xAA, on a typical LCD monitor refreshing at 60 Hz or 75 Hz, the two cards are identical for all practical purposes. You can't distinguish between 29 fps and 30 fps in Crysis. Both cards get over 75 fps in the other games reviewed, which means you get as many fps as the monitor can paint (60 or 75) regardless of the video card. I guess smart people who can't afford a 30" monitor will save the $100 and go with the HD 4870 X2.
Actually, looking more carefully at the numbers, something is fishy with that review. Do this exercise:
- take the numbers for GTX 295 and HD 4870 X2 from the second chart (the AA enabled version) - replace any number greater than 60 with 60 - at 2560x1600 they're equal, except that the GTX can't play Crysis at all and the ATI plays it horribly at 15 fps.
I think that GTX 295 should sell for about $440.

The GTX295 is memory limited in Crysis at that res with AA added.
It showed that in other reviews too even with the driver update that was supposed to help.
Overall it's still the better card, but everyone expected ATi to drop the price of the X2 once the GTX295 arrived, just like nV did with their GF8 generations.
Good for consumers, not really reflective of most reviews and especially previews piting them as $ equals.

The X2 price did drop The Sapphire used to be $520 at Newegg and now it's $400 after rebate. The Visiontek version is now $480, from $530 recently. Good work, nVidia!!!
