I installed windows 7 on an early delivered P6T Deluxe delivery
and played arround using 1T samsung disks 6 pieces

Config :

disk 0 Windows 7 Os 3 partitions Boot Windows7 / windows 7 and / 20 gig partition empty
disk 1 1 Tera data style 1
disk2 1 Tera data style 2
disk3 1 Tera data style 2
disk 4 1 Tera data style 1
disk 5 1 Tera data style 1

So far all is running perfect : having my 6 sata disks defined AHCI

just now I decided to scrapp disks 4 and 5 (nr same as channel) and place them in a raid
configuration.

I'm just using the last 2 disks for a mirrored raid combinations

changing the AHCI setting to RAID in the bios and reboot .....

as I'm not aware of the Raid configuration setup,.... I miss the timeout and the system comes to a
boot ,, where Windows 7 almost immediatly asks to repair the system

I did reboot and set disks 4 and 5 mirrord raid 1 , but lost all my other disks in the main time ....

I did pull the plug on disks 1/2/3 by rebooting and taking out the SATA connectors .....

But these disks are format using the AHCI setting
and will be corruped as soon as I reconnect tem to the system .....

This means The motherboard is corrupting the each and every drive as soon as the switch
from AHCI to raid is maid,,, .... This is very bad::::

I do not care about losing disk 4 and 5 but im astonished nothing is recognized from it and I need to format them completely ....

Windows 7 does not see my raid setting only the bios .....
is this a good thing ..... how will I know Wich / what disk fails and need to be replaced ???
Will it ask to reformat again as I take out one of the mirrored drives.....

any answer welcome, Mirroring sounded nice but this way it seems completely useless
So bad choice of motherboard ??

Can anyone confirm the cenario.... agree on my procedure ???....

Thanks for answering,
As I get this, the patch corrects the OS for the changes made to the P6T Disk interface ... and storage mechanism.....

Opposed to the IDE/AHCI setting the disk structure does not change.... no automatic checkdisk is going to see a difference on the disk and further corrupt the original...

appearently on P6T delux using just the IDE/AHCI/Raid Switch the interpretation
of the disk has changed ... even if NO RAID was setup (all individual disks)

By definition this is corruption....
Even worse as Checkdisk repair is involved, any boot will destroy all
disks as a whole .... the changes are enforcing a reboot....

RAID 1 is supposed to be simple ... disk are to be directly exchangeable
with an other system possibly not even ASUS....
envisage a serious electrical malfunction in 1 machine .... this will ensure
a defect .....

The proposed patch ... how does it reorganise the disk structure ???
Does it make RAID 1 very dangerous for data Consistency !!!!!

If this is your main computer, may i suggest you do something like this:

1) Install a single drive for Windows
2) Install a second drive for media and backups
3) Use Acronis True Image to make a Windows Image and back this up to the second hard drive

4) Build a separate RAID system 4 matching drives. I don't know what you want it for so can't advise further. You can sync it with your desktop but you can network and don't need all the noise and issues your getting.

Do you want:
- file serve?
- stream media locally?
- Torrent download?
- simply backup data in a mirrored configuration?

I'm not use I understand what you mean. It doesn't matter if you have a P6T Deluxe, Intel ICHxR behaves the same on all motherboards.
