Shutting Down Due To Overheating???

My computer has been recently shutting down whenever I play any games which involve downloading, or should I say "high proccess" games which need a lot of computer resorces to run. A lot of people on the fourms have been saying that RAM may be the problem. One of my family members recently bought 4.00 GB of ram and it seemed that the computer started to slowly get worse and worse after that point. So I was just wondering if that was the problem.

Here is my computer components:

Intenl Pentium CPU 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
ATI Graphics Card

Well, that's not really a great list of components.

Motherboard?
Type and specific model of RAM?
Power Supply, including brand and model number?
ATI makes probably 20-30 different models of cards...
